My partner and I visited in mid-Sept 2004, perfect time since it's at the end of the season, but still warm yet not TOO hot, the island is hopping but not crazy, and we had the hotel to ourselves.
Upon our ferry's arrival at the port, we were greeted by the pick-up service who drove us to the hotel. We passed through the guard gate (Mykonos feels so safe already, this clued me in that we were headed towards a luxurious stay), as he drove us up to the lobby. Entered, and had an incredible view. They upgraded us to a room with private balcony and gorgeous view of the green-blue Mediterranean. We stayed for free through Starwood, but I'd definitely pay for this hotel. When I told people in town where I was staying, they were impressed, saying it is the island's nicest hotel. Rare for Europe, this was American 5 star quality.
Private beach (though we preferred the public beaches, Elias, the gay beach, was our favorite, but they were all beautiful, Paradise, Superparadise, etc). Two pools which were a nice cleaner getaway after 3 days of beach. Friendly, helpful staff, and a ride to the airport on our final morning. We didn't use them, but they have tennis courts and a helicopter pad, which hint at the type of hotel this is. Definitely rent a car on this island, wherever you stay - we rented an automatic since don't know stick, not too expensive, and well worth it to avoid the buses. Too large an island not to have a car, espec when you want to go to Mykonos Town (aka "Hora") and the beaches. We usually like to be in the "middle of it" when we travel, but on this island, it was nice to stay a bit outside of the major traffic yet it's only a 10 min drive to town, and maybe 15 to 20(max) to the beaches. Enjoy!
